Hypnosis

?Relaxation and visualization are both aspects of hypnosis. Once you learn these techniques, you can use them whenever they are needed. These are tools that can be used throughout your life.

?Using healthy relaxation techniques may help you overcome negative stress responses.

?Therapy sessions last approximately one hour. In your first session, an intake/ history will be completed. The issues you want to work on will be discussed. Any concerns, fears or misconceptions you may have about hypnosis will be addressed.

?Many people wonder what being hypnotized “feels like”. The feelings that you may experience during hypnosis would be similar to deep relaxation. During a session you will be experiencing “focused attention”; however, you are always in control.

?During the use of cognitive-behavioral hypnosis, the focus is on removing defeating, negative self statements and patterns of behavior that are neither helpful nor rational. The negative thoughts are replaced with helpful, healthy and constructive thoughts.

?For clients that are also involved in traditional cognitive-behavioral therapy, use of hypnosis can enhance and speed up the therapeutic process by addressing cognitions that may be blocked by the conscious mind.
